James Richard Francisco is buried in the McGormley Union Cemetery in Ballville. Township, Sandusky County. He married Fanny Maria Grover. James Richard was a Sergeant in Company C., 4th Regiment, Ohio Voluntary Infantry, in the Mexican War, was discharged December 28, 1847, at Vera Cruz, Mexico. He served as Representative to Congress from Sandusky County, Ohio, approximately 1865-1868, he was a democrat. He also drove the first steam engine that was driven from Albany, New York, to Boston. He lived on the farm in Ballville Township, Sandusky County, Ohio, where his children were born in a log cabin.

He settled in Fremont in 1839 and was a farmer and stock dealer. He lived on a farm in Ballville Township where his children were born.

Death of James R. Francisco
Hon. James R. Francisco, died at the home of his daughter on Court Street in this city, on Sunday, December 27, in the eighty-second year of his age.

Mr. Francisco was born in Ontario County, New York, May 25, 1815. When a young man he was a driver on the Camden and Amboy railroad, before the days of steam locomotives. Later he was an engineer on the locomotive John Bull, which was brought from England and was the first steam railway locomotive in America. Mr. Francisco came to Sandusky County early in the forties, and resided here until his death.

In the war with Mexico, Mr. Francisco was Sergeant of Company C, Fourth Ohio Volunteers, and participated with that regiment in its operations during 1847. In 1883 he was elected Representative to the Ohio General Assembly from this County, as a Democrat, and served two terms.

Mr. Francisco's wife died a number of years ago (October 1, 1887). He leaves children and grandchildren. The funeral services were held from the M.E. Church Tuesday afternoon and the interment was in the McGormley Cemetery in Ballville Township.
